Remember 2months ago…

To give you a look of the last T5B, please find some photos of the incredible week we experienced, thanks to every participant. We really enjoyed this week with you and hope to see you next year.

We saw some amazing sportive representation, with motivated teams and a great feeling between different teams.

We had some great shows, and wanted to congratulate our amazing cheerleaders !

And of course… we really had good times during parties and other non-sportive activities!

We did it.

Saturday, 4 PM.

Dear players,

The 31st Edition of the T5B is behind us but it will live in our heads for a long time. From what I heard, everyone had a great time - ESSEC students, the organizing committee and of course, you.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winning teams. They fought their way to the finals and were able to stay focused and take the trophy home. The matches were thrilling, and I’m sure some of the people here this year will go pro given their obivous, astonishing skills.

Of course, the T5B isn’t all about sports and this edition had its share of magnificent parties. Some records were broken, the beer was cold and the dancefloor was hot. I ran across some of you with stars in their eyes when they left the closing party at 3AM - I’m glad.

Now we have to go back to our normal lives. Work for the final exams of the year, see our moms and dads, tell our friends about the good times we had in Cergy and Paris. I think you’ll find yourself thinking back on these moments for the better part of next year. I know I will.

But don’t worry, it will be sign-up time sooner than you think, and we’ll all be able to dream about the 32nd edition.
See you next year for an always-improved T5B.

Barney the Rabbit

PS: if you have photos you want to share with us, feel free to tag me on Facebook !

Almost there !

In about a week, you’ll be arriving on campus and playing your first match. I don’t know how you feel about this, but I can tell you we’re very excited to meet you and get started with the tournament.

As the countdown hits the “7 days left” mark, we wanted to let you know about one of the new things we will be introducing this year so you can prepare.

This year, the organizing committee offers you something new and the occasion to wear the colors of your country or your university during the Tournament’s opening ceremony.

After Day 1 of the Tournament and a nice dinner at 7:30, all players and non-players will get the chance to gather and march in the ESSEC Dome during our olymic parade with all the 900 participants of all the delegations. Get ready to

The ceremony will go as follows :

19h30 : the delegations will gather for the parade

20h : the actual parade will start, with delegations proudly marching to the music

20h50 : ESSEC’s cheerleading squad will present its Olympic show

21h : we will light up the olympic flames and declare the tournament officially open

21h15 : the Sports Union president, the head of the tournament, Cergy’s mayor and the head of ESSEC will give short speeches.

All delegations will be present, and we expect you to wear your colors with pride and of course to bring all the fun and good ambiance we are used to. We need your support !

PS : Don’t hesitate to bring your own mascot !

Sportingly,
The T5B’s organizing committee.

Better safe than sorry.

When there’s a storm, some flights may be cancelled. When there’s an accident, a bus may have to change its route. When there’s a bomb scare, a train may stay in the station.

Of course, we hope none of this will happen to you. But the thing is - you can’t do anything to prevent a storm, so you should focus on what you can do. Here’s an example.

Since you’re crossing borders to join us, you will need some official papers. For some of you, it will only be an ID card. But for those who come a long way to France, a visa or some other justification may be required.

Process may be slow, you may need some other papers. Our point is this : don’t wait another day, do it now - if you haven’t started the proceedings.

It’ll take a weight on your shoulder and you’ll be sure to join us.

See you soon !

Dancing with the All-Stars

Every year, our folks in charge of basketball remind us that the T5B started off as a sole basketball tournament by offering us one of the best events of the T5B week: the All-Star Game.

All week long, the referees keep an eye on the best players of the tournament. On Thursday, they gather and come up with a list of 10 lucky but talented players, who will be asked to play in this prestigious game.

Not only is it an honor to play in this game in front of a few hundred people, right before the closing ceremony, but chances are they will come out of it with a great story as a bonus.

From 8 to 10 PM, they will play against a selection of French rising stars and try things they normally wouldn’t, just because it’s fun.

To name a few, the following players honored us with their presence:
- Tony “TP” Parker, who is a Triple NBA Champion with the Spurs and a two-time NBA All-Star Game player
- Ronny Turiaf, who played for the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers and made it to the NBA finals in ‘08
- Thierry Zig who played for the Paris BR and Malaga, but is especially famous for his dunking technique (he won every contest to be won in France)
- Teddy Maizeroi who took on Vince Carter in a Slam Dunk contest in the US
- Frederic Miguel, once a French Ligue winner with ASVEL

A big holla to Al, the ESSEC coach for bringing talented players every year, we woulnd’t have that much fun without his work (and our team would probably be lame).

This year, we will of course have a show from our own private cheerleading squad, as well as a dance show at half-time. Just in case a alley-hoop doesn’t make you hot enough.

Wanna play with tomorrow’s NBA players? Give it all on the floor.

“What’s new and different?”

Every year, we are very happy to see some of you come back, and tell us how much you love the T5B. This is a part of why we love the T5B. But it also has its challenges.

Because you’ve been here before, you’re constantly asking “what’s new?”, and we have to come up with new ideas every year. If it even crossed our mind to do the same thing we did last year, you would go “Been there, done that”, and we don’t want to disappoint you, do we? ;-)

In the past few years, we have heard some of you complain about how little you know about the French culture. By staying on the campus, you get to meet a lot of French people, but you want to learn even more. So, we decided to go to the very core of our culture, and we are proud to introduce…

THE WINE & CHEESE TASTING. Yummy!

For a couple of hours, you will get to taste some of France’s greatest wines and cheeses, while learning how to tell them apart: an expert in the domain will give out all the tips and tricks you need to know !

We have added this to the Special Event section of this website. Please note that because it is a limited-audience event, you will need to sign in for it when signing in for the T5B.

Where will I sleep?

If there’s such a thing as “beauty rest”, there must be a “T5B rest”.

We think the T5B is breathtaking - and we mean that both literally and figuratively. And for that reason, we know it’s important for you to have a good night sleep. Without it, you wouldn’t be able to play all the matches, and attend all the events we plan for you.

We’ve just updated the list of the hotels we will be using for this year’s edition. You can find it in the “Commodities > Night” section of this website, of just by following this link.

And since you also need the prices to make your choice, we’ve updated them as well. And if you observe them well, you will spot something new, something we’ll discuss here soon.

Come and check out this page often, as we will unvail this year’s information each week!

Sign-ups are closed

Some might say, we should have stuck to the title. Anyways:

Last week, we announced we would be closing sign-ups today, and many of you sent us their file, thanks !

Our team will now go through all the files and select the lucky ones who will join us in April for the XXXIth edition or the T5B.

If you haven’t sent your file yet, it is still time, but you will be put on the waiting list…

Happy New Year y’all !
